Pastor Jake Gaines Jr. was born and raised in Michigan.  He attended Detroit public schools and has always strived to get the most out of the resources God has made available to him.  He is a graduate of New Era Baptist Bible College.  He is about to celebrate his 38th  year as Pastor of  Synagogue Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit Michigan, April 2024.

Pastor Gaines is also the author of 10 books and is currently working on his next, so he requests that you lift him up in prayer.

He continues to be committed to the spiritual growth of God’s people.  He is a firm believer, that, “we grow because we choose to”,  and based on that he continues to present new venues of growth for those who strive to be the best they can be in Christ.  Pastor Gaines advocates surrounding yourself with progressive people, who may not think exactly the way you do, and allow the Holy Spirt to mesh our gifts and talents, that we might make a greater impact on “The Kingdom” in a struggling society that refuses to trust God.

Pastor’s love for God, his lovely wife, Leona, and his family, are the  driving  forces behind  his untiring effort  to glorify God in his life and his work. 

Time has shown him the ebbs and tides of ministry, and that, “a faith that can’t be tested, can’t be trusted.” The goal to glorify God is larger than us all.
